During a design test, Hickory Grove Baptist Church prompted me with creating a series of resources to promote and support their summer student event, Summer Intensity. In order to remain consistent with HGBC's branding, I utilized their logos and specified typefaces throughout each product. All illustrations and the yellow Summer Intensity title were created with my beloved drawing pad and photo compositing! My primary objective with this project was to design a concept that connected viewers with a common summer pastime and was appealing to the middle and high school students age group.
The first product, viewed above, is a looping GIF animation to be displayed on announcement screens during the main Sunday service and on screens throughout the church campus. Below is a postcard of a still image in the animation, which was to be handed out to church members with other printed announcements or service guides. These first 2 products were designed to reach the guardians of the student age group because let's be honest, oftentimes students need an adult's help keeping their schedule organized!
In order to best spread the news of this event to the students, I reconfigured the composition of the postcard handout to create a square feed post for the HGBC Instagram page, accompanied by a Reels animation. Meta's algorithm on Instagram favors Reels, and it has been an effective method for users to share information (and laughter). This animation was designed to serve as a virtual invite so students could easily send this Reel to their fellow classmates and friends.
The final product was created for use during the Summer Intensity event. Not only does this zoomed in view of the illustrations create a fun, colorful composition, but also subtly hints at focusing on the details. Students' growth in Christian faith and learning about the Bible is the main purpose of Summer Intensity.
